Kandinsky’s Circles

In ICT today, some of the Year 3s used their skills with “Revelation Natural Art” to recreate their own versions of Kandinsky’s Circles painting. Have a look at some of these finished pieces. Do you think they resemble the original?

Adventurous Adverbs

Year 3 have been looking at adverbs. We used the internet, thesauruses and our own brains to think of a whole range of new and exciting adverbs.

We took the paragraph below and added adverbs.

Chelsea laughed and invited me in.
We walked up to her bedroom.
We sat on a sofa by a window and
talked about the neighbors who had moved
in on Tuesday, school, and the gossip
about the kids expelled from school.
Two hours passed, and I left.
I thought that I liked having a neighbor like Chelsea.

The following paragraph was written as a class at the end of our adverb exploration.

Chelsea laughed enthusiastically and invited me kindly in.
We quickly walked up to her bedroom.
We sat comfortably on a sofa by a window and
talked excitedly about the neighbors who had nervously moved
in on Tuesday, school, and the gossip
about the kids recently expelled from school.
Two hours passed magically, and I sadly left.
I thought quietly that I liked having a neighbor like Chelsea.

What do you think? Did we chose appropriate adverbs? Which one is your favourite? Could you suggest another adverb to take the place of one of ours?

Isabella on Oil

Isabella showed her initiative recently by deciding to make a presentation about the production of oil. Independently, she researched, created and filmed her presentation and she would love to share it with everyone. Let Isabella know your thoughts about her work…

Sprouting Success

The Year 3 children have had the wonderful opportunity to make use of the new poly tunnel this week. They have been learning how to bed, grow and look after plants. Everyone had the opportunity to plant some lettuce and now they will have the responsibility to look after them, water them and help them grow.

Later in the day, the children used their gardening experience in English to write a set of instructions about how to plant lettuce. The aim was to make short, clear instructions with clear commands and time words. Have a look at the example, have they used the correct features? Please comment.

Solids, Liquids and Gases Video

For the first part of the term, Year 3 have been learning all about the States of Matter (solids, liquids & gases). To finish off the topic Chestnut class decided to produce a documentary programme all about the subject. They found it an engaging and creative way of demonstrating what they have learnt.

Have a watch and please let us know what you think. Have you learnt something new? Are you impressed with their knowledge? Can you think of any other facts we could have mentioned?

La bonne vie!

Year 3 have been doing some work on introducing themselves and simple conversation in French with Mrs Beddington.

Below is one example of the conversations they had today, with some excellent pronunciation and confident speaking coupled with a good knowledge of the language needed.

If you’re a pupil, make sure you know what they’re saying. Then use it to practice the phrases along with Jack and Aurelia. If you’re an adult, this is a good chance to brush up on your key phrases.
