Air Resistance

3 Sycamore have spent the last few Science lessons exploring air resistance. They have completed an experiment into the subject and the video below shows what they’ve been doing.

The class found out that the bigger the surface area they used for their parachute, the more air resistance there was, and the slower it fell.

What did you learn from the experiment?

Friendship Collages

This week in ICT, Year 3 have built on the photography skills they learnt previously and produced some wonderful collages of friendship photos. Take a look at their work below…

Do their editing skills impress you?    Do they capture the essence of friendship?   Which photos do you like the most?

Photography Class

This week in ICT year 3 have been taking photographs. They were put in pairs, sent around the school and given a specific theme to photograph. The themes included certain shapes, materials and numbers. The children were shown how to take imaginative shots and taught how to edit. Have a look at some of their galleries…

Puppet Pals

This week in ICT the children have been using the Puppet Pals app to create a visual story. This app is great fun and allows the children to show off their creative side whilst developing their story telling skills.

Have a look at this story example from Millie and Pippa…

‘Happiness’ by Amber

This poem brought a tear to the eye in English last week. All of Year 3 wrote stories about what makes them happy. Feel free to comment on Amber’s poem after you’ve read it.

Happiness is when my cat Lola gives birth to squealing kittens which jump on my lap,
Happiness is creating an imaginative picture,
Happiness is eating soft cheesy macaroni cheese for dinner,
Happiness is playing bulldog in the sun with my friends,
Happiness is being with my lovely, forgiving family,
Happiness is seeing Liverpool beat Chelsea in football,
Happiness is winning a great race and getting a gold medal,
Happiness is writing a creative long story,
Happiness is being at this happy, friendly school every day.
