Brass in class!

The Year 3 children received a visit from Mr Ransom. As our Brass instrument teacher, he visited to tell them about the instruments that they have the opportunity to learn at the school.

The children had lots of questions which Mr Ransom gladly answered and then he played a few tunes including the James Bond and Star Wars themes.

The Roadside Woods

I go to the Roadside Woods…

…on an adventurous tune-up of my senses.

While we have the freedom to do what we like in this natural wonder, we are happy to like what we do!

The Roadside Woods is an exciting outdoor site for the children in Years 3 & 4. It is a new wonderous aspect that has been introduced to their weekly school curriculum by Mrs Robinson, who passionately advocates the importance of outdoor learning and play at Holme Grange School. Along with Miss Carberry and Mr Rex, the children have been busily building their site with enterprising enthusiasm, since September 2016.

All the Year 3s had a really great time at Kidzania today. They had the opportunity to try out a range of incredible jobs and experiences. It was a great chance to try new things, gain independence, work with different people and have lots of fun.
Have a look at the video below to see what they got up to…

‘Storm Scene’ by Edgar

Year 3 have been writing a description of the storm scene from Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’.

Edgar’s was particularly dramatic. Take a look below and then comment. He would be really grateful for your feedback and tips for the future.

A violent storm was upon them. The waves were alive and they were angry. The ship broke broke in half and Aegon said sadly, “I am a droplet in the ocean, and losing it’s others.” The rage of the sea was too strong., it was like thousands of bulls were running wildly into the ship. Aegon looked hopelessly at his family floating away. Is this the end of Aegon?

Aegon spluttered, “Thou hast wait to be rescued by the brave!”

The beastly fish were nibbling at their toes.

Poetry success!

The prep school competed in the annual poetry competition this year and all three Year 3 classes performed their poems beautifully, with Chestnut class winning the whole competition with their very funny performance of ‘There’s something in my welly.’ The other two classes were also great, with Beech performing ‘No word of a lie’ with great expression and Sycamore performing ‘I can’t’ with a lot of creativity. Have a look at all the poems below and perhaps leave a comment.
