Yours oinkily, HGS

We loved writing letters to Tracey, from the British Pig Association, who helped us to obtain our new pigs: Hope and Glory.

We spent some time last week gathering ideas about what makes the school such a good place for the pigs to be, as well as discussing descriptive vocabulary to describe the pigs and their new surroundings.

The results were fantastic and our letters have been sent off to Tracey. Below are a few examples of the letters written:

Adventurous Adverbs

Year 3 have been looking at adverbs. We used the internet, thesauruses and our own brains to think of a whole range of new and exciting adverbs.

We took the paragraph below and added adverbs.

Chelsea laughed and invited me in.
We walked up to her bedroom.
We sat on a sofa by a window and
talked about the neighbors who had moved
in on Tuesday, school, and the gossip
about the kids expelled from school.
Two hours passed, and I left.
I thought that I liked having a neighbor like Chelsea.

The following paragraph was written as a class at the end of our adverb exploration.

Chelsea laughed enthusiastically and invited me kindly in.
We quickly walked up to her bedroom.
We sat comfortably on a sofa by a window and
talked excitedly about the neighbors who had nervously moved
in on Tuesday, school, and the gossip
about the kids recently expelled from school.
Two hours passed magically, and I sadly left.
I thought quietly that I liked having a neighbor like Chelsea.

What do you think? Did we chose appropriate adverbs? Which one is your favourite? Could you suggest another adverb to take the place of one of ours?
